Facebook Now Has 1B Targets…er…Users

facebook-iconFacebook, as of this morning now has one billion active users…yes that’s billion—with a “b”. Kudos to Facebook’s CEO and co-founder Mark Zuckerberg for reaching two milestones. He now has 1 billion users and at the same time he has 1 billion targets for the cyber criminal organizations to attack. Yes, he must take the “good with the bad”, “bitter with the sweet”, etc., etc. of successfully building the largest cyber target known to man. Cyber crime organizations seek out the largest and easiest targets for their malware attacks. See Cybercrime: Following The Money. I hope Facebook.com will take Internet security and Facebook security more seriously. And maybe start spending the huge sums of money they’re making from ads aimed at the 1 billion users; to make Facebook.com safe from the crooks. I’ll believe it when I see it. Greed is a monstrous thing.

Fellow Facebook users: we must arm ourselves by using good security practices such as having an updated anti-virus suite, being aware of any message or post asking us to click on a link, and finally, to adopt a paranoid-like mentality…suspicious of everything, trusting nothing and no one. Sorry, but that’s what it’s come to these days.
