Blackhole Malware: Rents Cheap, Works Well

Binary Code pink goldBlackhole is not a scientific phenomena in this case—it’s the latest high-tech Internet-based malware computer exploit kit (malware for sale/rent). In fact, it rents for so low a price that I expect this malware exploit kit will multiply at a high rate of speed in the very near future. Here’s the price list as published by Naked Security.Sophos.com recently. They even include full support!

Blackhole can infect computers with any set of malware the renter chooses. But “the most prevalent payloads from the past few months include”:

  • Fake Anti-Virus Software (scareware)
  • Zeus banking malware
  • Ransomware (a takeover of your computer and requiring a ransom be paid to get your computer back)

Blackhole is a really bad actor and should be avoided at all cost. Make sure you have a good anti-virus package and keep it and all your software updated.
